Fire Door Installation at Grosvenor House, Portsmouth

Posted On - March 3rd 2017
Project Overview

Portsmouth City Council are the latest authority to benefit from the installation of new FD30 fire doors by Mila Window and Door Maintenance.

Nature of the works

Working alongside contractor Lawtech Group the specialist window and door maintenance company was asked to install fire doors into the five-storey block of flats at Grosvenor House in the city to replace the original doors which had been installed when the flats were built.

The new composite fire doors fully meet the requirements of the building regulations for compliance with fire prevention and containment in multi-occupied buildings, and the new doors also gave residents a new and appealing look to the front of their homes.

Speaking for Mila Window and Door Maintenance, Business Development Manager Will Chan commented

“installing new fire doors is something we took on board as a service offering some time ago; our contacts managers attended formal training courses and were certified as qualified to undertake these works”.

“It is a further extension to our repairs and maintenance offering for windows and doors in social housing and commercial applications, and reinforces once again the importance of being a specialist contractor. Multi-skilled operatives are simply not qualified to install products like this”.

“installing new FD30 fire doors into the 54 flats at Grosvenor House in Portsmouth is a great example of how an authority can not only make their buildings better, but can also improve the safety and comfort of their residents and give their homes a new and fresh appearance too”

“There are positive benefits all round, and the feedback from the residents has been incredibly positive”.
