Channelling Energy

Tina Marsh Office Manager for Mila Maintenance and Installation at the company’s Folkestone office channelled her energy to swim 22 miles in aid of Diabetes UK recently.

The nationwide charity swim was set up to encourage participants to swim the equivalent of the English Channel at their local swimming pools, with a mammoth target of over 1400 lengths needed to complete the task.

The challenge had to be completed between the 22nd February and the 22nd May at the swimmer’s own pace, but that meant almost daily visits to the pool.

Tina completed the target along with friend and former colleague Kerrie Priestley and they raised close to £400 for the cause.

Speaking about the event Tina commented, ‘I was determined to complete the challenge, even though on some of the cold winter mornings it was harder to get up and get to the pool, but I am diabetic and have a number of family members who are impacted by Diabetes as well and that gave me the inspiration to keep going’.

I am delighted to have done it, it is something I will always look back on with real pride, and I am so pleased to have been able to raise money for such an important charity. I need to think about what to do next now…
