A passion for training and people development

Whilst I am a relative newcomer to Mila Maintenance and Installation, I know I share their values. I have a real passion for training and people development, and I know this is something the company tried to promote through its adoption of the earliest types of social value projects.

The company was always keen to try and take on apprentices and local labour, to train them and give them meaningful employment. They were doing this long before it was fashionable to do so, and their commitment has never wavered.

Throughout my career I have looked at ways of bringing new talent to business, to train, to qualify and to continuously develop people and here at Mila Maintenance and Installation it is no different.

A resident’s home or a commercial building is not the place to be experimenting….

We are a specialist maintenance business and it is important we understand the finest technical nuances of the products we are asked to install by our clients. For that reason, we have developed our own training pods at our premises and before we go out to site, we train our engineers on what they are going to face. A resident’s home or a commercial building in not the place to be experimenting. When we get to site, we need to know exactly what we are going to be doing, and it is this commitment which sets us apart from the multi-skilled operators who work with some clients.

Ours is a specialist field and increasingly the jobs are becoming more complicated and technically demanding. This of course is something we can cope with, but we will never be complacent and installing our training pods shows our commitment to continuing personal and professional development.

Training and Development of people is a real passion of mine….

As I said earlier, Mila Maintenance and Installation has been committed to training and development from the outset of its business, and I am delighted to be able to continue this theme. It is a personal passion of mine and to have the opportunity to do it in such a forward-thinking business is incredibly exciting.

I am also excited to be the company’s mentor in the Fenestration Industry’s new campaign to recruit new talent Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration a Career of Choice. It is something which fits perfectly with me and I look forward to playing my part in bringing on new talent in the wider industry as well as in our own business.
