When windows and doors have been installed for a period of time it is likely that seals particularly will no longer have their original manufactured elasticity and integrity.
It’s 30 years since Mila Maintenance and Installation started trading. In that time we have completed over 1.2 million repairs and worked on over 300 different specifications. We are in every sense a specialist contractor, working on windows and doors in the social housing and commercial sectors.
At our heart is a set of principles which sees us put residents first, and a culture which drives us to keep looking for ways of doing things ever more efficiently.
We didn’t want to let the anniversary of 30 years of continuous trading pass us by without asking some of those who have been with us since the outset about their journey, and some of those who have joined us more recently about what they have found and are looking to achieve in their career with us.

“It is a remarkable achievement to be able to mark our 30th anniversary of trading” says Tristan Cooke, Managing Director of Mila Maintenance and Installation. Against a background of multiple recessions over that period, and the numerous major challenges that the Social Housing sector particularly has faced, it is extraordinary.
At the start we had three people, one van and one not very mobile phone.
Chris France, now General Manager at Mila Maintenance and Installation, was one of the first to join the team. With 27 years-service behind him, the 30th anniversary of the company marks an important milestone.
You could be forgiven for thinking that after 23 years in the job, there would be nothing new to see.

We have spoken a lot about the fact that we have worked on over 300 individual hardware specifications over the years, but if anything, the rate at which we are coming across new ones each week is increasing.
Evolving our processes and procedures is quite literally a never-ending journey
Sarah Whitaker is office Manager at Mila Maintenance and Installation. Her 17 years at the company make her one of the longest serving members of the team, and the projects she has managed during that time has seen the company evolve into a highly efficient organisation managing over 600 individual jobs per week.
The opportunity to undertake training to open up new avenues for the business is the great attraction for me
Dean Bradford is one of Mila Maintenance and Installation’s contract managers. Based in Sheffield he spent the first five years of his time with the company on sites in London where the daily challenges of managing large contracts whetted his appetite for personal development and how this might benefit the company by opening up new avenues for business.

If there is one thing I have learnt in my relatively short time at Mila Maintenance and Installation, it is that nobody sits back thinking that after 30 years we have got it right. Far from it, everybody from the top down is always looking at what we can improve, how can we make things better for our clients, and for ourselves.
