At this years SFHA Property Maintenance Conference, at Crieff Hydro, Mila Window and Door Maintenance is demonstrated the benefits which it can offer social housing providers through its highly skilled and specialised repair, refurbishment and maintenance programmes.

Mila has a team of NVQ qualified maintenance engineers who carry out ongoing, planned maintenance programmes for clients which are more cost effective and more appropriate for the needs of tenants than ad-hoc window and door repair.

Mila’s service encompasses everything from installing stay restrictors to ensure windows meet Health & Safety legislation, replacing leaking gaskets and repairing or replacing broken hardware to replacing failed sealed units with new, energy efficient alternatives.

As part of the Mila Hardware group, the company can draw upon its knowledge of the market to provide repairs in any type of profile system or to any type of hardware.  It can even access a profile database, drawings and samples stretching back 29 years to identify the right combination of frame and hardware from more than 500 possible combinations.

Mila also boasts that it can extend the serviceable life of windows and doors for social housing providers by identifying and solving problems before they even become an issue of tenants or scheme managers.

For example, Mila has worked alongside Hanover Housing Association in Edinburgh for the past eight years and during that time has delivered a 95% reduction in responsive window repairs – ie calling out maintenance engineers whenever a tenant reports a problem.

For Hanover, Mila’s maintenance programme takes in more than 120 schemes and includes some projects which require access via scaffolding and some which simply require a reassuring friendly manner.

At the conference, Mila Maintenance’s team demonstrated the success of its contracts across Scotland and gave visitors the opportunity to ask questions about specific contracts or to get advice on complex window and door maintenance issues.
